Last Day of School

I'm working on clearing out all of my blog drafts. So it may very well feel like time travel over the next few blogs. :D

Sami's first year of school is over.

Kindergarten has come to an end.

Wasn't it just last week I was writing about her first day of school? Well, considering it's taken me a month to write this post, it very well may have.

If you want to read my crazy ramblings about sending my baby to Kindergarten for a whole 7 hours, click here.

First Day!

Last Day!

Yes, I thought it would be cute to dress her in the same dress for her last day of school as I did for her first day.

Isn't the difference amazing? She's matured so much. Grown a few inches, gained some weight and her face has thinned out quite a bit, lost a few teeth. Still crazy. .Still spunky

I had to work that day. So I didn't get to do quite as much as I had wanted. I had all sorts of things planned but between everything leading up to that time and with how crazy work was that day, I didn't get as much as I wanted accomplished. It was also a half day, so she was only at school for a few hours.

 Cest la vie

Nate baked muffins while I worked and I made some lemonade. Then I put together this basket of snacks for her. Nothing big, just some mixed berry muffins, lemon tea cookies and lemonade.

I reused her Easter basket to hold it all.

The School Fairy visited again!

BTS Fairy is a lazy girl

This is what was inside. 4 new books, sunscreen, antibacterial gel, glow sticks and some flash cards.
BTS Fairy is weird about germs.

Remember those Birthday party decorations I didn't get to use at the party?

Yup, totally used them.

Zayta felt left out. No treats for you, Sausage Dog!

Laying in wait.

"What is this mess, Mom?"

Oh HI!

Such a waste, Mom. Seriously.

It was definitely a fun year. Lots of good things, a few bad things. She struggled with anger and she struggled with not using her hands to express herself. She excelled in all areas except fine motor skills, which is something we're going to be working on through the summer.

It's going to be a fun summer, we'll be getting ready to say goodbye to Daddy, getting ready for a new school year and starting new dance classes.

Here are a few photos of the BTS Fairy's letter. I am way too lazy to scan it in right now.:

She wasn't as eloquent this time. I think she's falling down on the job.

And not to be outdone, Mrs Nelson sent home a letter of her own that made me cry.

(See? This is why I don't scan)

I sent this book to her teacher to write a little note in. I plan (if I can remember to get it done and not get caught) to have all of her teachers through the years, sign it and then present it to her on Graduation.

Needless to say, it went better than I thought. It was memorable, at least for me even if Sami thinks I'm crazy.

What did you do for the end of the year?

  1. Your little girl looks so pretty in her first and last day of school pics! I think it's so cute you dressed her in the same outfit :) So neat to see the changes! What a fun mom you are and finding such creative ways to celebrate the coming of summer! I ADORE the Dr. Suess book idea for her teachers to sign. I think you should definitely try and stick with it, it will make for a very special gift she can cherish.
